SNEINTON SKATERS
Sneinton market is the skateboarding hub for Nottingham locals. There is a group of enthusiasts who gather in the square of the market daily. “New people roll through all the time” (Ellis, crew member). To join this ‘crew’ all you need is a skateboard and you’re set. You can always hear the sound of wheels if you live near squares. They are cool and indulgent, but they are so friendly and open. They may not know each other, however anyone who has a skateboard is welcomed to become part of the crew. “People are open and friendly because no one ignore you”. These skaters feel as though they belong amongst people they share the same interest with even though they’re all from different backgrounds.
